John R. Day

John R. Day, B.S., M.S., M. Ed., ABD, CAAP, is Director of the Office of Diversity Education Planning in the unit of Opportunity Development and Diversity Education Planning (ODDEP) at Georgia State University. He has served at the university for over 30 years in various positions including student affairs, faculty, and administration. For 16 years he was Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Diversity Education Programs in the Division of Student Life. He developed and taught the university’s first diversity course and now provides leadership in the strategic planning of diversity education for the Georgia State campus community.
Day has experience in a plethora of diversity training models, methods and approaches including the National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI); American Institute For Managing Diversity, Inc. (AIMD) – Dr. Roosevelt Thomas, Jr., CEO; National Conference on Race and Ethnicity (NCORE) race, gender, sexual identity, etc., workshop certifications; American Council on Education (ACE) Initiatives on Race Relations; and Study Circles small group democratic discussion process.
